It houses four cinemas, a large exhibition area, three unique meeting rooms, an education space, a shop, a bar-restaurant, and a series of permanent presentations. What’s more, Eye manages the Dutch film heritage in a state-of-the-art building right next to Eye, where a collection of about 50,000 films is housed, digitised and restored. Have a look at the Making of the Brilliant Biograph to see how our curators work.
Furthermore, Eye manages an extensive national educational programme and is responsible for the promotion of Dutch films abroad and the Dutch submission for the Academy Awards. By combining the past, present, and future of cinema, Eye provides both young and old with an insight into the art and power of the moving image with our pay-off being: “Eye shows you a new perspective”.

Without you, there's no Eye Filmmuseum. Would you like to donate or bequeath to Eye? Or maybe you have a special last wish or want to organise a memorial ceremony in Eye?
“We believe there is no better art form than the art of moving images that show you a different world, time, culture and alternative ways of thinking. To see somebody else’s point of view. As an old African saying goes: If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
Sandra den Hamer, director of Eye (2007 – 2023)
