2021 Eye Artist in Residence

Imran Channa is a Pakistani visual artist who lives and works in Pakistan and in the Netherlands. Channa works with different art media (installation, drawing, painting, digital, moving image and sculpture) and draws attention to the ingredients required for the process of documentation, highlighting how history is recorded, framed and manufactured via photography, archaeology and literature. Channa is interested in the role played by these modes in the perversion of knowledge and the construction of consciousness. In Eye, Channa will focus mainly on the collections of images from the former Dutch colonies.

2021 Eye Scholar in Residence

Amal Alhaag works as an independent curator, cultural programmer and radio DJ. She is interested in oral history, counter-culture and global social issues, where she likes to research and put on the agenda "uncomfortable issues". Many of her projects are based at the intersection of music, contemporary art, anthropology and (post) colonial history. Alhaag is a member of the curatorial team for the exhibition Sonsbeek 2020-2024; curatorial & research fellow at Mathaf, Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha, Qatar; and co-founder of the association Metro54. She also works as senior research & public programmer at the Research Center for Material Culture, part of the Museum of World Cultures.
