In the Stop Motion workshop, students see how the illusion of movement works in film. They learn that film is made up of many different still images that are played in quick succession, which creates the appearance of motion. The students investigate this for themselves by making a stop-motion film inspired by one of the films from the Eye collection. They work with coloured paper on light-boxes, as well as other materials such as mosaic tiles or black-and-white drawings. They work on their film in small groups, which teaches them how to work together as a team. In collaboration with Taartrovers.
Stop Motion Studio
This workshop focuses on the essence of all audiovisual media: how do you create movement, how do you play with images, and how do you translate an idea into a film?
