Every summer
Previously Unreleased
still Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell (Thien An Pham, VN/FR/SG/ES 2023)
Apparently, none of these films warranted a standard Dutch cinematic release. Eye will now screen them as part of Previously Unreleased. They will be shown daily, for at least a week in Amsterdam (Eye, De FilmHallen) and will screen at cinemas across the country from the summer onwards.
Screened at prominent national and international festivals, yet never released in Dutch cinemas. Quite unjustly so, Eye Filmmuseum thinks, and so it has once again brought an exceptional selection of films from international festivals to the Netherlands.
still Viver mal (Joao Canijo, PT/FR 2023)
still Eureka (Lisandro Alonso, AR/FR/PT/NL 2023)
This year too, work by well-known and debuting directors will be screened, including Radu Jude (Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World), Lisandra Alonso (Eureka) and Thiên An Pham (Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell). The intriguing 'mirror films' Mal Viver and Viver Mal by Portuguese filmmaker João Canijo have also been selected.
still Peak Season (Steven Kanter & Henry Loevner, US 2023)
The films fit in with Eye's screening and collection policy, which pays a lot of attention to emerging makers from all parts of the world, new work by renowned film authors and sometimes 'forgotten' makers.
Previously Unreleased 2024
All Previously Unreleased titles will premiere alternately in Eye and De FilmHallen; every first screening in Amsterdam is introduced by a Filmkrant editor. The selected titles can also be seen in film theatres around the country.
Now and soon in Eye
Eye Film Player
A number of titles from the 2024 edition can also be viewed on demand on Eye Film Player and Picl two weeks after release. Titles from previous editions can already be seen on Eye Film Player. The list of titles is thus steadily expanded.
still Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World (Radu Jude, RO/LU/FR/HR 2023)
still Animal (Sofia Exarchou, GR/AT/BG/CY/RO 2023)
